How Does it Work?

AltMedia 101 sells advertising that appears on participating blogs. The total revenue collected is shared among the bloggers and AltMedia101. Once you sign up, you will receive a few lines of code to place on your blog or web page where you want the ads to appear.

A web control panel allows you to disable any ads you do not wish to run on your blog.

How much money can I make?

50% of collected ad revenue is set aside to be divided among the participating bloggers (after commissions). Payment from that 50% is apportioned based on the percentage of the total ad views that appeared on your blog.

Example:

Total revenue collected for ad: $400
20% commission ($80) leaves: $320
50% set aside for bloggers: $160
Your blog accounts for 10% of the total number of ad displays.
You receive: $16 (10% of $160)

Can I make more?

Yes. 20% of the collected ad revenue is set aside for commissions/referral fees. If you sell an ad for AltMedia101 or if you are identified as a referrer by the advertiser on their ad order, you will receive 20% of the ad fee.

Example:

Total revenue collected for ad: $400
The advertiser identifies you as the referrer. You get 20% of $400 = $80
50% of balance set aside for bloggers: $160
Your blog accounts for 10% of the total ad displays. You get $16.

You receive: $96

Referral fees are paid for the advertiser's first ad order only.

How often do I get paid?

By the 15th of every month (or the first business day following), checks are mailed to participating bloggers for referral fees and their share of the revenue COLLECTED* during the previous month.

* In some cases, payment for ads may be received after the month in which they run. Bloggers are paid from collected revenue. You must earn at least $5 to receive a check. If you earn less than $5 in any given month, your earned revenue is "banked" and you'll receive a check when your earnings reach $5.

Not that I don't trust you, but...

Yeah, yeah. We know.

Once you sign up with AltMedia 101, you will receive an ID and password that will allow you to access your own publisher's control panel. This will give you access to real-time statistics and ad management tools so you can see for yourself how many ad views are happening on your blog.

You can also use the publisher's control panel to disable any ads you do not wish to run on your blog.

Is there anything else?

Yes.

Ad Position. By participating in the AltMedia101 network, you agree to place the code provided to you on your blog or web site without alteration in a manner that allows for prominent display and proper functioning of the ad. The ad code must be placed in such a manner that the ads begin no further than 400 pixels from the top of the page. (The image to the right is 400 pixels high).

In addition, the ads must be above any other ads in the same column. Ads may be placed in any column, but must not be below any other ads in that column, must be visible without scrolling left or right and must begin at least 400 pixels from the top of the page.

Ad Views and Clicks. You agree not to cause the number of ad views or click-throughs to be be falsely inflated by repeatedly reloading the page on which the ad appears, repeatedly clicking on ads, manually or through the use of any script, program or by any other means. You acknowledge and agree that AltMedia 101 will configure its ad server not to record multiple ad views and/or click-throughs from the same user that occur within a certain period of time and that AltMedia 101 will set this period at its sole discretion.

Payment and Ad Rates. You agree that AltMedia 101 will set advertising rates at its sole discretion.

You understand and agree that any advertiser may decide not to run their ad on your blog and that such decisions are at the sole discretion of the advertiser.

You understand and agree that ads promoting the AltMedia 101 network may appear on your blog. These are not paid ads and you will receive no compensation for them. Additionally, pro bono public service ads may also run on the network. These are ads for which neither Altmedia 101 or the participating bloggers receive payment. You will be notified by email when such an ad is scheduled to run. If you do not wish to run such an ad, it is your responsibility to disable it from the publishers' control panel.

You understand and agree that AltMedia 101 may request your social security number and additional information if the total annual revenues paid to you approach or exceed the minimum required for reporting to the Internal Revenue Service. You agree to provide such information upon request. You understand and agree that your arrangement with Altmedia101 is one of an independent contractor and it is your obligation to report income earned from Altmedia101 for tax purposes and that all taxes are your sole responsibility.

Resolution of Disputes. You agree to negotiate any disputes with AltMedia 101 directly with AltMedia 101 in good faith and with reasonable effort prior to to taking any legal action against AltMedia101. AltMedia 101 is a corporation chartered by the state of North Carolina and you agree that your business with AltMedia 101 is to be governed solely by the laws of North Carolina or applicable federal laws. You agree that any legal claims filed against AltMedia 101 are to be in Guilford County, North Carolina.

You agree to hold harmless AltMedia101 and its advertisers for any technical malfunction or other causes resulting in improper operation of your blog and/or web site, for any failure of ads to display on your web site and/or for the content of any advertising. You understand that you may remove an ad through the publisher's interface and that it is your sole responsibility to remove any ad to which you object.

At its sole discretion, AltMedia 101 may remove you from the ad network for any reason it deems necessary.

Acceptance of Terms/Changes in Terms/ Severability. You agree that participation in the Altmedia101 ad network constitutes your acceptance of these terms.

You understand and agree that these terms and conditions may be updated at any time and that, while Alt Media 101 may make attempts to contact you to notify you of changes, it is not obligated to do so and it is your responsibility to keep abreast of these terms and conditions.

The terms of this contract are independent of one another. If any term herein is deemed unenforceable, the remainder of the contract shall remain valid.
